 Local NeighborhoodSTAT

Local NeighborhoodSTAT is an annual series of activations across 30+ New York City Housing Authority communities in all five boroughs, serving as an entry point to a broader resident-led participatory budgeting and design process. The initiative centers on returning decision-making power to underserved communities by engaging residents directly in how funding is prioritized and invested in their neighborhoods. Over the past three years, I have co-led the design direction for this series of events, developing promotional materials, event wayfinding, and engagement tools that help amplify resident voices and support community-driven storytelling.

GRAPHIC CONTENT and execution

These digital designs translate materials from concept to execution. Each year, ballots are created around five priority areas–physical space, economic stability, health & well being, safety & justice, and youth development. With input from the NYCHA development tenants, 15% of residents’ ballots are collected to ensure diverse community voices shape project direction. This feedback also informs partner selection, transforming the event into a broader resource fair. Beyond voting, the engagement zone invites residents to share specific concerns, ideas, and locations for investment, helping guide project design. Clear and accessible wayfinding supports participation at scale, ensuring a seamless experience for over 600 attendees.
